For our October meeting of W3, we are in for a real “treat”, no pun intended! We have reserved Blackbird’s Books & Spirits located at 203 N. East Street, Suite E in downtown Belton on Tuesday, October 27th at 5:30pm. Blackbird’s is Texas’ first bookstore & speakeasyserving craft cocktails in a fun, moody, whimsical setting. To enter, you move aside the oversized portrait of Texas’ 1st female governor,”Ma” Ferguson (a Bell county native) and walk through the hidden entrance. The bookstore is located directly behind the Bell County museum and is in the same building as the Katy Railroad Deli and Pizza Pieros. 

Since this upcoming meeting is the week of Halloween, we will be discussing the meaning and history behind Halloween, All Hallow’s Eve and All Saints Day. No reading is required! Several of us will present Halloween’s ancient origins, later religious significance and then we’ll have time to discuss and visit.

Please feel free to come dressed in costume as well, but costumes are not required! There is no fee for our reservation; Blackbird’s just ask that we purchase some of their craft cocktails, which are delicious. We can bring in food, so please bring food/appetizers to share! I hope you all can attend this next special evening. We will be also planning on some noon W3 luncheon meetings later this year to accommodate those of us who would prefer a meeting during the day.
